I’m feeling violated
Feeling violated often comes from experiencing a breach of trust, boundaries, or personal safety. It’s a deep and unsettling emotion that tells you something sacred—your dignity, security, or autonomy—has been disrespected or taken without your consent. It leaves you feeling exposed, powerless, and even unsafe.
What You Might Be Feeling Right Now
You might feel a mix of anger, shame, fear, or confusion. There could be a sense of disbelief or replaying the event in your mind, questioning how or why it happened. You may also feel distant or disconnected from others, trying to protect yourself from further harm while wrestling with overwhelming emotions.
God’s Heart for You in Violation
Psalm 34:18
"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
God sees your pain and is near to you in moments of deep hurt and brokenness.
Isaiah 41:10
"Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."
God is your protector and source of strength, offering His presence and peace in times when you feel vulnerable.
Romans 12:19
"Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: ‘It is mine to avenge; I will repay,’ says the Lord."
God assures you that justice is His, so you can release the weight of vengeance or retaliation to Him.
What You Can Do Right Now
- Acknowledge your feelings without judgment. Recognize that your emotions are valid and a natural response to what you’ve experienced.
- Bring your pain and confusion to God in prayer. He sees your heart and can provide comfort, clarity, and healing.
- Seek support from someone you trust, like a friend, pastor, or counselor, to help you process what happened and regain a sense of safety.
- Consider setting firm boundaries to protect yourself moving forward, whether emotionally, physically, or relationally.
- Reflect on ways to reclaim your sense of agency, whether through journaling, prayer, or practical steps that help you feel empowered.
A Prayer for This Moment
"Lord, I feel violated, and it’s hard to process the pain and confusion I’m experiencing. Please remind me that You see me, value me, and are my refuge in this storm. Help me to trust You with my healing and guide me in taking steps to protect my heart and mind. Bring justice where it’s needed and replace my fear with Your peace and strength. Thank You for being near to me in my brokenness. Amen."
