I’m feeling anxious

Anxiety often arises when we feel uncertain, fearful, or overwhelmed by what’s ahead. It’s your mind and body’s way of signaling that something is off or that you’re facing a challenge. While anxiety can be a natural response to stress, when it becomes overwhelming, it can keep you from seeing things clearly or trusting that everything will work out.

What You Might Be Feeling Right Now

You might feel your heart racing, your thoughts spiraling, or a sense of dread about something in the future. It could be the fear of the unknown, the pressure of expectations, or the weight of responsibilities that are causing you to feel overwhelmed. You may also feel physically tense, like there’s too much on your plate and you’re unsure how to handle it all.

God’s Heart for You in Anxiety

Philippians 4:6-7
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
God calls you to bring your anxieties to Him in prayer, promising that His peace will guard your heart and mind.

Matthew 6:34
"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
God reminds you to take life one day at a time, trusting that He is in control of your future.

1 Peter 5:7
"Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you."
God invites you to release your worries to Him, knowing that He cares for you deeply and is ready to carry your burdens.

What You Can Do Right Now

  • Pause and take a few deep breaths to calm your body and mind. This can help you reset and ground yourself in the present moment.
  • Acknowledge the source of your anxiety. Is it a specific situation, fear of the unknown, or something out of your control? Naming it can help you see it more clearly.
  • Bring your anxious thoughts to God in prayer, asking Him for peace and guidance. Trust that He is with you in the midst of your worry.
  • Break things down into smaller steps. Focus on what you can control today, and let go of what you can’t.
  • Take care of your body by resting, eating well, or engaging in a calming activity, like going for a walk or listening to soothing music.

A Prayer for This Moment

"Lord, I feel anxious and overwhelmed, and it’s hard to quiet my mind. Please help me to cast my worries on You and trust that You are in control. Give me peace and clarity to handle what’s before me, and remind me that I don’t have to carry these burdens alone. Thank You for Your care and for guarding my heart with Your peace. Amen."
