I’m feeling scared
Feeling scared arises when we encounter something that threatens our safety, well-being, or sense of control. It’s your heart signaling that you perceive danger or uncertainty ahead, and you may feel overwhelmed or anxious about what’s to come. Fear can be a natural response to potential harm, but it can also hinder us from moving forward if we let it take over. While fear is real and sometimes justified, God calls us to face it with faith, trusting that He is in control, even in our most fearful moments.
What You Might Be Feeling Right Now
You might feel anxious, nervous, or paralyzed by the unknown. Fear often arises in moments of uncertainty, change, or perceived danger. This feeling can cause physical and emotional responses, such as a racing heart, shallow breathing, or an overwhelming urge to avoid the source of your fear. Whether it’s fear of failure, rejection, or harm, this emotion is a sign that your mind and body are reacting to a potential threat. However, it’s important to confront fear with God’s presence and trust in His protection.
God’s Heart for You in Fear
Isaiah 41:10
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
In moments of fear, God reassures us that we are not alone. He is with us, offering His strength and protection. Instead of allowing fear to paralyze us, we can rely on God’s presence to give us courage and peace.
2 Timothy 1:7
"For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline."
Fear often makes us feel weak, but God has given us a Spirit of power, love, and self-discipline. We are equipped to face fear with His strength, not timidity. God calls us to stand firm, knowing that His power empowers us to face any challenge.
Psalm 34:4
"I sought the Lord, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears."
When we are scared, God invites us to seek Him. He promises to deliver us from our fears, offering peace and comfort in the midst of uncertainty. We can trust that God is always ready to hear our cries and bring us peace.
What You Can Do Right Now
- Acknowledge Your Fear: If you’re feeling scared, it’s important to recognize the emotion and its source. What is causing your fear? Is it real or perceived? Take time to assess the situation and allow God to guide you through your fear.
- Pray for Courage and Peace: When fear overwhelms us, prayer is a powerful tool. Ask God for the courage to face your fears and for the peace that only He can provide. Trust that He will give you the strength to move forward, no matter the situation.
- Reframe Your Perspective: Fear often stems from focusing on the worst-case scenario. Take a moment to reframe your thoughts and consider how God is with you in this situation. Focus on His promises of protection and provision.
- Take Action in Faith: Fear can paralyze us if we let it, but God calls us to act in faith. Take one step forward, trusting that God will guide you and provide for you along the way. You don’t have to face fear alone—God is with you every step.
A Prayer for This Moment
"Lord, I am feeling scared, and my heart is overwhelmed by fear. Please help me to remember that You are always with me, offering Your strength and courage. I trust that You will deliver me from my fears and that I can rely on Your power to face whatever lies ahead. Help me to act in faith and to rest in Your peace, knowing that You are in control. Thank You for being my refuge and protector. Amen."
